Unqualified Lives
by Ann Zupke

A prospective short-termer quipped, “What does a popcorn farmer from Nebraska have to offer somebody in Egypt?” We proposed, “Jesus’ love AND the popcorn!”
We have been amazed at how readily God accepts the little we have and fills it up with Himself. As we prayed with people this year, we were continually awed by God’s transformational work in sincere but broken lives. As we walk along with Him, trusting that His heart is good, God shows off in miraculous ways.
One lady wrote: “Blessed by the name of God. To Him and from Him are wisdom and power. He reveals deep things and hidden secrets, for He dwells in the light, and You have revealed to me what I asked of You.” (Daniel 2:20-23 paraphrase) This happened to me. I want to testify to God’s goodness and faithfulness. God allowed me to travel for the first time away from home. It was difficult for me, but I wanted to obey God. I had many questions in my heart.
From the moment I arrived, God began to answer every question inside me, and His summary was: ‘I want you free, with no restrictions. I want you liberated! I want you to know how I see you.’ And God began to work in my heart as if He was performing a surgery. He began to reveal buried memories from childhood, the reasons for my fears.
He was telling me: ‘I will save you from the root of these problems.’ Every time I prayed, I felt freer, as if my wounded, imprisoned heart was inspired by new life. I am very grateful to the Lord for His work in my heart.
We rejoice that many people boldly offer their “unqualified” lives to see God glorified and lives transformed all around the globe. Thankfully, all of us have one simple gift in common; God loved us first, so that we can love others (1John 4:17).
