Jon and Katie serve in Cat Lake, a fly-in-only First Nation reserve in Northern Ontario (a community of about 500 people). They moved there in 2011 to establish a Christian School (ACE – Accelerated Christian Education curriculum) at the request of the band’s Chief and Council. Jon’s roles include teacher, administrator, and principal, and locals work alongside him as classroom staff. Jon also pastors the small local church.
Katie’s primary responsibility is caring for their six children, but she also leads worship in the church services and assists Jon in other areas as needed (co-leading Bible studies, pastoral counseling sessions, etc.) She also helps at the school for special events, birthdays, and office work.
